Kathleen Quinlan is an accomplished actress whose screen work began in the early 1970s. She appeared as Peg in American Graffiti (1973) and took the lead in I Never Promised You a Rose Garden (1977), playing a teenager in psychiatric treatment, a performance that brought a Golden Globe nomination. Later credits include Patricia Kennealy in The Doors (1991) and Marilyn Lovell in Apollo 13 (1995), opposite Tom Hanks, which earned Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for supporting actress. She also starred as a family lawyer in the CBS series Family Law (1999–2002).

Her horror and science-fiction work includes the Joe Dante segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), in which she played Helen Foley in “It’s a Good Life.” In Event Horizon (1997), directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, she played Peters, the medical officer on a rescue crew sent after a ship that has returned from deep space. The film follows the team as they review the vessel’s logs and the effects of its experimental drive. In the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes she played Ethel Carter, one of a family stranded in the desert. Other genre credits include Warning Sign (1985) and The Stairs (2021).

Outside horror, she played Amy Taylor in the thriller Breakdown (1997), opposite Kurt Russell, and later appeared in Breach, Made of Honor, Prison Break, and Horizon: An American Saga. Quinlan was born in Pasadena, California, on November 19, 1954, and has worked in film and television for more than five decades.
