Dee Wallace first entered the horror genre with roles in The Stepford Wives (1975) as Nettie the maid and as Lynne Wood in Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes (1977). She stared as Karen White in Joe Dante’s The Howling (1981) and was as Donna Trenton in Lewis Teague’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Cujo (1983).

Her other horror credits include Helen Brown in Critters (1986), Suzanne in Popcorn (1991), Patricia Ann Bradley in Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners (1996), Cynthia Strode in Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007), the landlady in The House of the Devil (2009), and Sonny in The Lords of Salem (2012). Some of her later appearances feature 3 from Hell (2019), Critters Attack! (2019), Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022), and other independent genre projects.

In 1982 Dee played Mary, the mother of Elliott, Michael, and Gertie, in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Other credits include Mary Lewis in Blake Edwards’ 10 (1979), Connie Ryan in Secret Admirer (1985), and supporting parts in Extraordinary Measures (2010) and Love & Mercy (2014).

Wallace’s career began in the 70s with television guest appearances on series such as The Streets of San Francisco, Starsky & Hutch, Police Woman, and Lou Grant. She had guest roles on Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisperer, Grimm, Switched at Birth, My Name Is Earl, 9-1-1, You’re the Worst, and The Whispers, as well as a recurring role as Grandma Rebecca in the series Just Add Magic.
