Ken Kirzinger is best known for donning the Jason Voorhees mask in Freddy vs. Jason (2003), directed by Ronny Yu. He played Jason opposite Robert Englund’s Freddy Krueger for the length of the film, including the lake sequence and the fight at the cabin. He had already appeared in the series: in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) he played a New York cook who crosses Jason, then played by Kane Hodder. Later horror roles include Pa in Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007) and Rusty Nail in Joy Ride 3: Roadkill (2014). In the parody Stan Helsing (2009) he played Mason, a Jason-style figure. He also had a small part in Thir13en Ghosts (2001).
His early stunt credits include Stakeout, Shoot to Kill, Bird on a Wire, Look Who's Talking, and Cool Runnings. He later coordinated stunts on films including Insomnia, The Santa Clause 2, and the 2005 remake of The Fog, and did stunt work on Paycheck, X2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Incredible Hulk, Watchmen, 2012, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Cabin in the Woods, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
He appeared in Friday the 13th documentaries, including His Name Was Jason and Crystal Lake Memories, discussing the Voorhees role. His other acting credits include a helicopter pilot in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Nurse Becker in The Assignment, and guest spots on Supernatural, Smallville, Fringe, Psych, and Stargate.
